Bitcoin Price Holds Firm as Global Equities Soar and Coldcard Wallets Breached
The Bitcoin price held steady near $64,300 despite a significant breach of Coldcard hardware wallets, which resulted in approximately $38 million worth of cryptocurrency being stolen. The security incident involved around 500 compromised wallets.
Meanwhile, South Korea's Kospi index surged by as much as 17%, driven largely by semiconductor stocks such as Samsung and SK Hynix. This rally was fueled by stronger-than-expected cloud earnings from Amazon and Microsoft, which reignited confidence in AI infrastructure spending and drove a sharp rebound in semiconductor stocks across Asia.
The global equity markets showed a strong response to the news, with U.S. tech futures pushing higher on the back of Amazon's earnings report. However, Bitcoin's price remained unaffected by the events, showing no measurable reaction to the breach or the Kospi surge.
In fact, BNB was the only major cryptocurrency to post a meaningful weekly gain, rising 3% on the day to $590 and standing out as an exception among its peers.
