Bitcoin Price Hovers Near $83,000 Ahead of Crucial PCE Inflation Release
The Bitcoin price is approaching $83,000 ahead of the key PCE inflation release. According to forecasts, August's core PCE reading will likely range from 0.3% to 0.5% month-over-month. A hotter-than-expected print could strengthen higher-for-longer rate expectations and put pressure on the Bitcoin price.
The Federal Reserve explicitly ties its 2% inflation target to PCE, making the underlying price trend relevant to rate expectations. If core inflation runs hotter, markets may price in a more restrictive Fed for longer, which can draw capital away from non-yielding assets like Bitcoin.
On the other hand, a softer result could push expectations in the other direction. The relationship between Treasury yields, Fed expectations, and Bitcoin price levels is central to the setup, but the unreleased data will determine whether that pressure intensifies.
