Bitcoin's price plummeted to $62,236 on July 31, causing its market cap to drop to $1.26 trillion. This decline was mirrored across the broader crypto market, with most altcoins experiencing losses of 2-3% over the past week.

Ethereum (ETH) and XRP struggled to maintain their prices, losing nearly 2.6% and 2%, respectively. However, some high-market-cap altcoins bucked the trend, including ADA, which rose by 15.3%. UNI, PUMP, and BEAT also posted gains of 8.6%, 16%, and 7.2%, respectively.

The combined crypto market cap fell from $2.33 trillion on July 27 to $2.22 trillion on August 2. The uncertainty surrounding the Clarity Act's passage is seen as a key factor suppressing hopes for a Bitcoin recovery, with some industry participants optimistic that its passing could catalyze a rebound.
