Bitcoin Price Rally Pushes Crypto Market Cap Above $3 Trillion
Crypto market capitalization has reclaimed the $3 trillion level, driven by Bitcoin's price gains. On September 22, CoinGecko data showed that Bitcoin had gained about 5% over 24 hours, while total capitalization rose roughly 4%. This move extended a recovery that pushed BTC above several long-term technical reference points.
Bitcoin still controls over half of the total cryptocurrency capitalization, with its market value reaching roughly $1.72 trillion during the session. Ether traded near $2,740 during the same period, and other altcoins such as XRP, Solana, and Dogecoin also advanced.
The rally has been accompanied by strong demand for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, with Farside Investors recording $999 million in net inflows on September 21. BlackRock's IBIT drew $381.4 million, while Fidelity's FBTC attracted $238.8 million.
However, the setup created a split structure, where spot and exchange-traded fund demand supported the rally, while leveraged positioning increased sensitivity to pullbacks. This means that if prices reverse towards nearby liquidity concentrations, leveraged long positions could be exposed.
