Bitcoin Quantum Attack Defense Costs Plummet to $67 Per Transaction
The cost of generating Bitcoin transactions designed to withstand quantum-computer attacks has fallen by 79% in just one week, according to StarkWare. This significant reduction brings the computing cost down to below $67 per transaction.
This improvement came through the Quantum Safe Bitcoin Optimization Challenge, launched on September 16 by StarkWare, Yukon Research and Eigen Labs. The challenge involved developers, researchers, and artificial intelligence agents working together to optimize the computing efficiency of graphics processing units (GPUs) needed to generate the transactions.
A total of 62 optimization methods were adopted, resulting in a substantial decrease in computing costs. StarkWare's researcher Avihu Levy first unveiled Quantum Safe Bitcoin (QSB) technology in April as an emergency safeguard against quantum computers rendering Bitcoin's digital signatures ineffective.
