Bitcoin Reclaims 50-Week EMA Trendline for First Time Since November 2025
Bitcoin has reclaimed its key resistance trendline, the 50-week exponential moving average (EMA), for the first time since November 2025. This milestone marks a critical stage in the bear-market recovery of Bitcoin, which is currently trading near its highest levels since mid-May.
The 50-week EMA, a crucial line of resistance during Bitcoin's bear markets, has been breached by $BTC/USD after closing above it last week at $77,727 on Bitstamp. Prior to this, the last time the cryptocurrency closed above this trendline was in early November 2025.
Reclaiming the 50-week EMA is a significant development for Bitcoin traders and investors, as it often precedes further price action. However, not all analysts are convinced by this recent strength, with some warning that the area around $80,000 still poses resistance to bull efforts.
CryptoQuant's onchain analytics show that investor cohorts have begun to return to profitability, with short-term holders (STHs) net profitable at 11% and new money entering at a breakeven point of $73,000. This suggests that recent price action has been driven by investors seeking to exit losses rather than fresh buying interest.
