Bitcoin Reclaims Crucial Moving Average, Suggesting End of Bear Market
Bitcoin has reclaimed its 1,130-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) after an 80-day period below it. This significant technical signal is a strong indication that the bear market in Bitcoin may have ended.
The reclaim of the 1,130-day SMA occurred on August 20, 2026, when Bitcoin's price broke above $74,000 and extended to $80,697. According to analyst Ali Charts (@alicharts), this specific moving average has preceded the beginning of a new Bitcoin bull market in every one of the past four cycles - without a single exception.
The reclaim is not isolated to a single event but rather arrived on the back of a weekly surge from approximately $62,700 to nearly $80,000. This performance was accompanied by $2.74 billion in short liquidations and a White House crypto summit where President Trump declared 'the war on crypto is over.'
The 1,130-day SMA is a long-cycle tool that averages Bitcoin's price across more than three years of daily closes, filtering out short-term noise and reflecting the macro-level momentum of Bitcoin's multi-year price structure.
