Bitcoin Retreats as Key Support Level Looms Near $82,000
Bitcoin (BTC) began the new week by retreating from its eight-month high, falling 1.2% to $83,400 on Monday after reaching as high as $85,060 earlier in the session.
The decline follows last week's rally above $86,000, which gave Bitcoin its highest price since January.
Bitcoin's recent advance was substantial, climbing more than 30% from its August 19 level and briefly approaching positive territory for 2026.
This move was driven by strong spot-ETF inflows, improving regulatory sentiment, and the closing of bearish positions.
The next key technical level is $82,000, which Bitcoin was rejected around in mid-May and again in early September.
A break below this level would weaken the breakout and expose $80,000, followed by the broader $78,000 area.
