Bitcoin Selloff Ahead of Clarity Act Vote

Bitcoin prices fell below $77,000 on Tuesday as investors pulled back from risk assets ahead of two key events: a Senate vote on the CLARITY Act and the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision.

The token dropped as much as 3% in morning trading before rebounding above $76,000. Broader markets were also under pressure, with US stock indexes opening lower and Treasury yields moving toward their highest levels since 2023.

The CLARITY Act vote is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. ET and requires 60 votes to formally open debate on the legislation. A failed vote would not kill the bill but could delay comprehensive crypto market structure legislation until after the midterm elections.
