Bitcoin Sentiment Plunges as Coldcard Exploit Raises Security Concerns

Bitcoin's sentiment ratio has plummeted to record lows after a recent coldcard firmware exploit. According to Santiment, for every bearish comment on social media, there were only 0.58 bullish comments, marking the lowest 24-hour greed-versus-fear ratio.

The Coldcard exploit, which resulted in over $40M in Bitcoin being drained, has shaken traders and raised questions about the security of cold wallets. Unlike exchanges or leveraged platforms, self-custody was considered a safe last defensive mechanism in the crypto sector.

Traders are now debating the evolution of attack vectors and the current security of hardware wallets. To recover from this sentiment plunge, trust needs to be rebuilt in self-custody, which is crucial for increasing retail sentiment.
