Bitcoin Slumps Below $82,700 as Exchange Liquidity Surges and Longs Get Liquidated
Bitcoin's recent surge came to an abrupt end on Monday as it plummeted below $82,700, marking its lowest point of the week. The decline was triggered by a surge in exchange order book liquidity, which prompted renewed selling pressure.
The sudden influx of sell orders near $85,700 played a pivotal role in reversing Bitcoin's upward drive. Market tracker CoinGlass documented the liquidation of approximately $70 million in long positions over a 24-hour period, highlighting risks for leveraged traders during volatile sessions.
Market analyst Aksel Kibar cautioned that Bitcoin's earlier attempt to break higher did not constitute a 'decisive breakout.' He noted that hesitant price action can result in prices returning inside the $60,000, $80,000 trading corridor where Bitcoin spent much of 2026.
