Bitcoin Soars 43% in Q3, Leaving Gold and Stocks Behind
Bitcoin surged in the third quarter of 2026, outperforming global gold prices and major U.S. stock indexes.
The cryptocurrency rose by 42.68% over the period, from $58,559 on June 30 to $83,554 on September 30, with a significant portion of the gain coming in August when it climbed around 25%.
Gold prices, however, were more subdued, rising only 3.7% over the same period, despite facing downward pressure in September due to a strengthening U.S. dollar and rising Treasury yields.
In contrast, major U.S. stock indexes struggled, with the S&P 500 declining by 2.7%, while the Nasdaq Composite rose by 2.5%.
