Bitcoin Soars on Inflation Fears and ETF Inflows
Bitcoin's price has been on an upward trend since early August, driven by three key factors. Firstly, exchange-traded fund (ETF) inflows have been significant, with U.S.-based ETFs absorbing $3.8 billion in net inflows over the three weeks through Sept. 4.
These inflows are largely due to investors seeking inflation-resistant assets as they fear monetary debasement. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that consumer prices rose 3.4% year over year in August, which is a substantial increase compared to before 2020.
The third factor driving Bitcoin's price higher is on-chain data indicating miner stress and capitulation. As of Aug. 12, eight of 12 holder capitulation signals were flashing, including factors like average holding periods and liquidation rates of supply that hasn't moved in multiple years.
