Bitcoin Soars Past $90,000 Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
Bitcoin has been gaining traction since mid-August, surging to levels not seen since early in the year. The digital currency hit nearly $90,000 last week, up from around $65,000 in August.
The rally is puzzling given that the Clarity Act, which aims to establish a regulatory framework for digital assets, has stalled. However, some investors may view Bitcoin as an attractive option due to its relatively low valuation compared to equities, which are considered high-risk at current prices.
Bitcoin's price volatility and lack of correlation with traditional safe-haven assets make it a speculative investment rather than a reliable hedge against market risk. The cryptocurrency plummeted by 65% in 2022 when the S&P 500 fell by 19%, demonstrating its unpredictability.
