Bitcoin Soars to Highest Price in Eight Months
Bitcoin has staged another significant rally, reaching $86,332 on Monday, its highest price in eight months and since January. This recent bounce follows a short squeeze last week that left over 126,000 accounts liquidated, with about 84% of the $877 million total coming from short positions wiped out as the price climbed.
The market is showing signs of optimism, with traders positioning ahead of key events such as the meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping on September 24. However, Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan warns that markets could be entering a 'strongest and longest-running bull market in crypto's history,' but this has not been without controversy.
The Relative Strength Index shows Bitcoin is currently overbought, indicating it may be due for a pause or retest of the $79,071-to-$80,355 support zone before the next leg. A weekly close below this zone would undercut the bullish structure, while holding above it keeps the path toward new highs intact.
