Bitcoin Spot Trading Volume Hits New Lows
CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost has observed a concerning trend in Bitcoin's spot trading volume. According to data, July saw a continued decline in trading activity, with major platforms experiencing significant drops from their highs at the end of 2024. Binance's spot trading volume for the month exceeded $35 billion, but this is a far cry from the $246 billion seen in November 2024.
The decline in trading volume is not isolated to any single platform, as Bybit, Coinbase, and OKX saw drops of 85%, 61%, and 67% respectively. This suggests that the contraction in market activity is a global trend rather than a localized issue.
When compared to the late 2023 bear market, Bitcoin's spot trading volume has reached levels seen during that period. While this may not necessarily be cause for alarm, it does suggest a lack of momentum in the market and potentially sets the stage for future price movements.
