Bitcoin Surges 2.0% to $85,836.57 Amid Whale Buying and Upcoming Events
Crypto markets are experiencing a surge in price, with Bitcoin up 2.0% to $85,836.57 and the total crypto market cap reaching $3.02 trillion. Several factors are contributing to this rally, including big buyers, whale wallets moving quickly, new investor access through platforms like Coinbase, and upcoming events such as the Trump-Xi Jinping meeting on September 24.
Strategy's recent Bitcoin purchases have added 950 more BTC to its holdings, bringing its total to 846,000 BTC worth $72.70 billion. Whale wallets are also accumulating UNI and ETH, with one wallet picking up 782,130 UNI worth $6.97 million. Ethereum's confidence is being boosted by Vitalik Buterin's praise for Trueo, a prediction market protocol planning to move from Base to the Ethereum mainnet.
The surge in prices has also led to significant liquidation, with 108,115 traders getting wiped out in the past day, totaling $648.69 million. Shorts took the biggest hit at $444.81 million, against $203.88 million in longs. With the upcoming Fed meetings in October and December, volatility is expected to remain high.
