Bitcoin Surges 25% in Five Days, Gold Gains Momentum Amid Macro Uncertainty
The price of Bitcoin (BTC) has surged by nearly 25% in just five days, pushing its value above $78,000 as investors pile into the cryptocurrency. This uptrend comes as risk appetite improves, with capital inflows through Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and derivatives contributing to the rally.
Gold (XAU/USD) is also gaining momentum, trading around $4,600, supported by a strong bullish MACD signal. The precious metal's price has been bolstered by heightened macroeconomic uncertainty, prompting market participants to increase allocations to gold as a defensive hedge.
The US Treasury's surprise decision to double its liquidity-support buybacks for longer-dated government securities to at least $4 billion per operation has also contributed to the rally in gold. Meanwhile, the SuperTrend line at $69,127 provides support for Bitcoin's price, suggesting that the recent breakout is backed by trend-following support.
As the Fear & Greed Index hits 72 in the Fear territory, up from 62 the day before, investors are becoming increasingly optimistic about the prospects of a continued rally. With capital continuing to flow into US-listed spot ETFs, the price of Bitcoin could potentially break above $80,000 if sustained demand is maintained.
