Bitcoin Surges Above $85,000 Amid 'Crypto Spring' Optimism
Bitcoin has surged above $85,000 for the first time since late January as the cryptocurrency market continues its rally.
The price increase comes despite a difficult year for Bitcoin, which is still down overall. However, it has risen more than 7% in the last five days and nearly 35% over the last three months.
According to Matt Hougan, CIO at Bitwise, this marks the end of the 'crypto winter' period that began after Bitcoin hit an all-time high of over $126,000 in October 2025.
Hougan believes that the fundamentals of cryptocurrency have improved despite the price decline, with more transactions across blockchains and involvement from major firms like BlackRock. He predicts that prices will catch up by the end of the year, potentially reaching new highs.
