Bitcoin Surges Past $77,000 on Treasury Bond Buyback Boost
Bitcoin's price surged over $10,000 in just one week, breaking above $77,000 for the first time since May. The rally was triggered by the U.S. Treasury doubling its long-dated bond buybacks to $4 billion per operation.
The move allowed the government to repurchase older bonds and inject cash into the market, pulling down the 10-year Treasury yield by six basis points to about 4.647%.
Markets interpreted this as a liquidity signal, and traders rotated into Bitcoin as a hedge against renewed monetary easing.
