Bitcoin has surpassed the $80,000 mark for the first time in its history. According to data from CoinMarketCap, the cryptocurrency traded at $80,088.71 as of August 27, up 2.01% from a day earlier. This represents an increase of 11.6% over the past week.

The kimchi premium, which measures the difference in price between Bitcoin and its value in South Korean won, has dropped to 0.05%. This is according to Cryprice data, which showed the premium at 0.05% as of August 27.
