Bitcoin Surges Past $81,000 Following US Treasury Announcement
Bitcoin rose nearly 3% to surpass $81,000 on August 26, its highest level since May 15.
The digital currency has appreciated nearly 26% since August 19, when the US Treasury Department announced it would accelerate and even double the volume of its bond repurchase programs to support liquidity in long-term bonds.
Before this announcement, Bitcoin was trading at around $64,750, but has continued to rise and register a 7.3% appreciation since the beginning of the year.
