Bitcoin Surges Past $86,000 Amid Broader Crypto Market Rally
Bitcoin's price surged above $86,000 on September 22, 2026, marking its highest valuation since January. This significant rise comes as a broader cryptocurrency market rally pushes top altcoins to outpace the leading digital asset.
Data from CoinGlass showed that Bitcoin's market dominance fell by 0.1%, while the Altseason Index reached 62. Dogecoin led the daily gains with a 12.2% surge, followed by Sui at 8.3%, XRP at 6.2%, Cardano at 5.7%, and Solana at 4.3%. In comparison, Bitcoin's price increased by only 2% over the same period.
Analysts point to spot ETF inflows, low historical supply resistance, and forced buybacks from short sellers as key drivers behind the digital asset's rise from $81,000 to $86,600.
