Bitcoin Takes Lead as Semiconductors Stall
Bitcoin has broken higher, potentially taking over as the speculative leader from the semiconductor space. The move is attributed to renewed concerns about dollar debasement following the US Treasury's decision to double long bond buybacks, as well as growing optimism that the Clarity Act will pass Congress and create a more crypto-friendly environment.
The data suggests that momentum-driven behaviour has shifted between markets over recent years, with traders gravitating towards whichever market had been the hottest at the time. The latest shift is particularly abrupt, with Bitcoin rising 19.3% in the past 40 trading days, while the semiconductor index has fallen 12.3%
Bitcoin's breakout has taken it into a major technical zone between $73,500 and $74,500, which has been an important reference point for market moves over the years. The oscillators are entirely bullish, with RSI (14) in overbought territory at 82, and MACD diverging sharply higher in positive territory.
