Bitcoin Tops Charts at $80,798 Amid Muted Price Action
Bitcoin has taken the top spot on CoinGecko's trending coins board, trading at $80,798 with a 0.5% daily gain as of May 10, 2026.
The largest cryptocurrency held its number-one position despite relatively muted price action, with a 24-hour trading volume reaching around $18.7 billion.
Market capitalization sat near $1.618 trillion, solidifying Bitcoin's place as the largest asset by size globally, with a dominance of approximately 58.3% of the total crypto market.
Tom Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat, forecasted that Bitcoin could trade between $150,000 and $200,000 by late 2026, attributing this potential growth to three key factors: institutional ETF demand providing a structural floor, post-halving supply remaining tight, and geopolitical pressure easing.
Bitcoin's price action has been volatile this year, hitting an all-time high of nearly $126,198 on October 6, 2025, before dropping to around $67,936 by April 1, 2026. The asset briefly touched $81,000 on May 5 and is currently consolidating in the $78,000 to $87,000 range.
