Bitcoin Wallet Worth Almost $4.5 Million Recovered After 8-Year Ordeal
A British man named Chris had invested in Bitcoin back in 2011, spending around $2,000 on the cryptocurrency after being convinced by a friend that it would become a 'massive thing'. At the time, he stored his Bitcoin on the platform Intersango, one of the earliest Bitcoin exchanges in the UK.
However, in 2014, Intersango unexpectedly became unavailable, and Chris was among those who attempted to withdraw their money. Unfortunately, when he tried to log in, the system had frozen his account, and he lost access to his Bitcoin wallet. By then, the value of his Bitcoin had increased to around $5,400.
Chris initially accepted that he might have lost the money forever, but after years of watching Bitcoin's value skyrocket, his wife encouraged him to contact CEL Solicitors, a company specializing in recovering lost cryptocurrency. With their help, Chris was able to recover his Bitcoin wallet within months, which is now worth almost $4.5 million.
Chris plans to keep some of the money in crypto but will cash out the rest to upgrade his home and better accommodate a family member with disabilities. He also expressed concerns about scammers and hackers targeting cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets.
