Bitcoin Whale Loses Big as Price Surges Past $65K
Bitcoin's price surge to $65,000 has triggered liquidations in highly leveraged short positions. A major whale holding approximately $117 million worth of Bitcoin short positions saw $23.36 million of those positions forced to close during the rally.
The whale in question continues to hold a short position of around 1,440 BTC, currently valued at $93.21 million, following the liquidation. The current liquidation price of the open position is approximately $65,042. If Bitcoin's price remains above this level or continues its upward trend, the pressure on the position may increase.
On-chain analytics platform Glassnode reported that long-term investor behavior in the market is showing signs of accumulation. The 'strong hands', investors who tend to hold onto their assets despite price fluctuations, are buying up Bitcoin.
