Bitcoin Whales Awaken After Over 10 Years of Silence
A recent surge in Bitcoin activity has drawn attention to 'dormant' wallets that have lain undisturbed for over a decade. According to Galaxy Research, at least eight such addresses became active again in September, with owners moving a total of 2,184.3 BTC.
The largest transfer was made on September 6, when an address that had not been used since 2016 moved 1,260.78 BTC. At the time of the transaction, the coins were valued at around $100.63 million and their average cost basis was approximately $652 per BTC.
Galaxy Research estimated the owner's realized profit at about $99.64 million, representing a gain of over 12,000% from their initial investment.
