Bitcoin's $2 Trillion Market Cap Marks Shift in Price Behavior
Bitcoin's latest bear market saw it drop around 55% from its peak in October 2025, but this decline was smaller than some of its previous crashes. The cryptocurrency fell below $16,000 approximately one year after reaching a high of close to $69,000 in November 2021.
This drawdown comes as Bitcoin's investor base and market structure continue to change. Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds launched in January 2024, giving financial advisers and other professional investors a familiar way to gain exposure to the cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin is now back around a $2 trillion market capitalization, making it harder for its spectacular multiples of earlier years to be replicated.
