Bitcoin's 'Bart Simpson' Pattern Nears Critical Breakdown
The 'Bart Simpson' pattern in Bitcoin has re-emerged as a potential warning signal for investors. This chart pattern is characterized by an abrupt bullish spike, followed by lateral consolidation at high levels and then a reversal that erases a significant portion of the prior movement.
The current formation began on August 19 when Bitcoin's price rose from $64,420 to $80,700 over a six-day period. This short squeeze elevated the price by approximately 25%. The asset then entered a lateral consolidation phase before initiating its retracement.
From a technical analysis perspective, the validation of the bearish pattern requires Bitcoin to break below a critical support level of $75,800. A breakdown below this reference would confirm the structure and imply a correction of at least 20% from the peak, placing the price in the environment of $64,000.
Mati Greenspan, founder of Quantum Economics, suggests that the greater market depth and institutional participation currently make this pattern less frequent in Bitcoin price dynamics than in previous years. The ADX (Average Directional Index) sits at 22, below the 25 threshold that traders typically use to confirm a directional trend.
The distributive factor comes from on-chain data, with the 30-day accumulated distribution by long-term holders experiencing an increase of 61.5% between August 18 and August 28. This figure represents the highest level since the beginning of 2026.
