Bitcoin's Irreversible Nature: What Happens When You Send Funds to the Wrong Address
Sending Bitcoin to the wrong address can have serious consequences due to its irreversible nature. Unlike traditional bank transfers, there is no central authority that can cancel a confirmed Bitcoin transaction.
If you accidentally send Bitcoin to the wrong valid address and the transaction is confirmed, it's usually impossible to reverse. The recipient will control the private keys associated with the receiving address, making recovery extremely difficult or impossible.
The situation changes if the transaction is still unconfirmed. In this case, wallet-specific mechanisms like Replace-by-Fee (RBF) might be able to cancel the transaction under certain circumstances.
