Monero Prepares for Major Privacy Upgrade with Stressnet Software Release

Monero has released a new version of its beta stressnet software ahead of another major round of testing for its upcoming privacy upgrades. The release, announced on Monday, comes as the network prepares to launch the third version of its beta stressnet for Full-Chain Membership Proofs (FCMP++) and CARROT on October 5.

The new version of the beta stressnet software is a key step in Monero's efforts to improve transaction privacy. FCMP++ will substantially expand the existing system, allowing transactions to prove that they spend one eligible output from the entire set of eligible outputs on the blockchain without identifying which one it is.

This will effectively give transactions a much broader anonymity set while still allowing the network to detect double spending. The Monero team has explained that Full-Chain Membership Proofs are designed to eliminate privacy weaknesses associated with selecting smaller decoy sets, and FCMP++ is expected to enable additional functionality, including safer transaction chaining and optional outgoing view keys.

The community is being urged to continue participating in the stressnet testing and report any problems they encounter. This will ensure a smooth transition to the new system and identify any potential issues before they become major problems.
