Bitcoin's Speed Advantage Wins Over Gamers
For gamers who hold Bitcoin, using it for transactions is often a no-brainer due to its speed and convenience. Unlike traditional bank transfers, which can take days or even weeks to process, Bitcoin transactions are typically settled in minutes, making them a preferred choice for those in the gaming community.
A recent report highlights the significant gap in processing times between standard bank transfers and crypto transactions. According to the Federal Reserve's FedACH service, traditional bank transfers often take 1-3 business days to clear, whereas Bitcoin on-chain transactions are confirmed within 10-60 minutes. Over the Lightning Network, payments settle in under a second.
The preference for Bitcoin among gamers is also driven by demographic factors. Millennials and Gen Z, who make up a significant portion of gamers, are more likely to hold cryptocurrencies, with 30% and 24% ownership rates respectively, compared to 7% for Baby Boomers.
