Bitget Cold Wallets Secure After Security Incident
Bitget has confirmed that its cold wallets remain secure despite a recent security incident affecting some exchange-held assets. The affected assets include Ether (ETH), XRP, BNB, AVAX, Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC) and other tokens across various blockchain networks.
The exchange's CEO, Gracy Chen, stated that Bitget has contacted the foundations of the affected networks, with some confirming that addresses linked to the attacker have been frozen. Chen also noted that the attack showed similarities to known North Korean hacking patterns, which has been submitted to relevant authorities for investigation.
Bitget Wallet, the company's decentralized wallet product, was not affected by the incident. The exchange stated that user protection fund exceeds $464 million, and user balances remain covered on a 1:1 basis.
The exchange emphasized that withdrawals will resume after security checks are complete, but did not provide a specific recovery date. Instead, they will publish a confirmed recovery window when one is available.
