Bitget Engages with BlackRock and Wall Street Firms on Asian Crypto Distribution
Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, is in talks with major Wall Street firms, including BlackRock, to explore potential areas of cooperation in the Asian market. According to Chen, Bitget's chief executive, the company has been engaging with these institutions to understand their plans for digital assets and how they can collaborate.
The discussions come as Asia becomes an increasingly important market for digital assets, with a 69% year-over-year growth rate in blockchain-based crypto-asset transactions as of June 2025, according to an OECD report. Bitget has a substantial user base in the region, with approximately half of its 125 million registered users located in East and Southeast Asia.
Bitget's user base is also notable for its overlap between traditional stock holders and cryptocurrency investors, with 52% of users holding both assets, according to the company's first-quarter 2026 data. This overlap suggests that some investors are increasingly treating digital and traditional assets as part of the same portfolio.
BlackRock, which manages $15.3 trillion in client assets, has continued expanding its digital-asset operations, including blockchain-based money market products and tokenized cash offerings. The firm's regional strategy includes new investment in its Asia-Pacific digital-assets business and a digital-assets position in Singapore.
