Bitget Hit by Suspected Hack, $183 Million in Cryptocurrency Transferred
ChainCatcher and Decrypt have reported that Bitget may have been hacked, resulting in approximately $183 million worth of cryptocurrency being transferred out of the exchange's wallets.
The funds were moved from both the hot wallet and cold storage reserves within about an hour, involving various tokens such as ETH ($2,688.37 · Live), USDT ($1.00 · Live), USDC ($1.00 · Live), AVAX ($10.44 · Live), BNB ($779.94 · Live), and XAUT ($4,265.21 · Live).
A new address starting with 0xe410 was used to transfer $19,670,000 worth of USDT0 through UniswapX and 1inch Fusion, exchanging it for approximately 7,111 ETH, which is about 5% above the market price.
Further transactions were made from other wallets tagged as Bitget, transferring various assets like ETH, AVAX, BNB, USDC, USDT, and XAUT to the same address. The funds' exodus stopped shortly after the first suspicious transaction around 6 minutes later and remained dormant for at least 20 minutes.
Some users have reported being unable to withdraw their funds, but Bitget has not issued a public statement or responded to Decrypt's request for comment. Analysts note that the tagged Bitget wallets still hold approximately $500 million worth of assets.
