Bitget Tackles Crypto's Gender Gap with $10 Million Pledge
The gender gap in cryptocurrency is a well-documented issue, but it's not just a branding opportunity. According to Bitget data, women account for roughly a quarter of cryptocurrency users globally.
This number is concerning when considering that women are expected to control more than $83 trillion in wealth by 2030. To address this gap, Bitget has launched its Crypto Anti-Bias Pledge, which includes three areas: education and access, equal opportunity, and zero tolerance for workplace harassment.
The exchange is backing the initiative with a $10 million Blockchain4Her program and an existing UNICEF partnership targeting blockchain education for 1.1 million people by 2027. The partnership aims to equip approximately 90% of participants, expected to be girls and young women, with blockchain and digital skills.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen emphasizes that the industry's adoption ceiling is structurally limited by excluding half the global population. Independent data from multiple surveys consistently show women are underrepresented both as users and as founders in the cryptocurrency space.
