BitGo CEO Issues $6M Bitcoin Challenge to Prove AI Hacking Claims
Mike Belshe, CEO of BitGo, has challenged Anthropic to steal $6 million in Bitcoin from one of his company's wallets. In a tweet on Friday, Belshe posted the wallet address alongside a challenge directed at Anthropic.
The challenge was sparked by an internal review published by Anthropic describing three incidents where its Claude models accessed live systems after a testing environment was mistakenly left connected to the public internet.
Belshe argued that these incidents reflected failures in sandbox configuration rather than evidence of current AI systems' ability to compromise institutional-grade cryptocurrency custody.
The wallet contained exactly 100 Bitcoin, valued at around $6 million at prevailing market prices. As of Sunday, no outgoing transactions had been recorded from the address, and the funds remained intact.
