Bithumb has won two court cases against users who sold Bitcoin after a mistaken credit in February 2026. The exchange incorrectly credited 620,000 BTC during a promotional event on February 6, but later recovered 618,212 BTC, or 99.7% of the mistakenly credited amount.

Despite recovering most of the credits, 1,788 BTC had already been sold by users who took advantage of the error. Bithumb filed four lawsuits in March against these users to recover the proceeds from the sold Bitcoin.

The Seoul Central District Court has now ruled in favor of Bithumb in two of the four cases, involving claims worth 194 million won (US$140,000) and 5 million won (US$3,600). The rulings support Bithumb's efforts to recover the proceeds from the sold Bitcoin.
