BitMart Abruptly Shutting Down Amid Bear Market Concerns

Share

BitMart, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges by trading volume, has announced an orderly shutdown of its operations. The exchange cited 'operating conditions, market environment, and future strategic direction' as reasons for the decision.

The shutdown process will begin on July 26 at 01:30 UTC, when new user registrations will be halted, and fiat deposits suspended. Trading activity will also cease during this time.

Full trading services, including spot and futures markets, will end on Aug. 26 at 01:00 UTC. Any remaining futures positions may be settled according to the platform's settlement rules.

This is the second major exchange to shut down in recent months amid a bear market. BitMEX announced its own shutdown earlier this week, with operations set to cease on Sept. 23.
