BitMart Faces August Deadline Amid Wallet Value Halving
BitMart is facing an August 19 deadline to resolve its financial situation after linked wallets halved in value. The decline has raised concerns about the exchange's ability to meet customer and employee claims as it winds down.
The issue began when customers reported difficulty withdrawing their funds, while former employees claimed they had yet to be paid their salaries. In response, BitMart's Chinese X account called for an independent third party to verify all users' wallets, assets, liabilities, and reserves held at the exchange.
This move aims to clarify whether BitMart still holds enough assets to meet customer claims as the wind-down progresses. Prior to the operational announcement by Arkham, approximately $71 million was attributed to the exchanges' exchange-linked wallets. However, as of writing, this figure has dropped to around $35.6 million.
