BitMart Winds Down Operations Ahead of January 2027 Shutdown
BitMart has announced that it will be winding down its operations and ceasing trading by January 31, 2027. The exchange had previously stopped accepting new user registrations and deposits, with futures trading entering a 'reduce-only' mode. Spot markets can no longer accept new orders.
The decision to shut down comes after BitMart evaluated its operating conditions, market environment, and future strategic direction. According to the notice, some withdrawal requests may be subject to additional compliance and security reviews, potentially extending processing times.
BMX, BitMart's native token, has lost nearly 70% of its value since late Friday, currently trading at around $0.09464. This decline follows reports of delayed withdrawals from the exchange, with some users claiming Tether USDt (USDT) withdrawal requests remained pending for hours.
BitMart joins a growing list of crypto trading platforms that have announced plans to close shop in recent months, including BitMEX and Dango. The shutdown plan may impact users who hold BMX or have funds tied up in the exchange.
