Bitmine Nears 5% Ether Holdings Goal with Over 6 Million Units Held
Bitmine has significantly increased its holdings of Ether (ETH), reaching over 6 million units, which is approximately 4.9% of the total supply. The company's goal is to secure 5% of the total ETH supply, and with its current progress, it stands at 98%. Bitmine's chairman Tom Lee stated that the company surpassed this scale in about 15 months since implementing its ether treasury strategy on June 30, 2025.
The company has been buying Ether every week since June 2025. Over the past week alone, Bitmine purchased an additional 17,362 ETH. The value of its total assets, including cryptocurrencies, cash, and marketable securities, is approximately $17.2 billion as of September 28.
A significant portion of Bitmine's Ether holdings are used for staking, with around 84% of its total holdings being staked at an assessment price of $2,698 per token. At current market value, this amounts to over $13.7 billion in revenue potential. The company estimates that if it manages all of its Ether through staking operators like MAVAN, the annual staking rewards would be around $424 million.
