Bitmine's Ethereum Buying Spree Sparks Bull Market Hopes
Bitmine Immersion Technologies, a digital asset treasury listed on the NYSE under the ticker BMNR, has been actively purchasing large quantities of Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH). As of September 27, 2026, Bitmine held 6,001,302 ETH, which accounts for approximately 4.9% of Ethereum's total supply. This acquisition effort is spearheaded by Tom Lee, the chairman of Bitmine, who aims to own a full 5% of Ethereum's supply.
Lee believes that a new crypto bull market has begun in late June and could lead to higher prices for Ethereum. If this prediction comes true, it would likely boost Bitmine's stock price, enabling the company to raise capital by selling its shares at a premium. The proceeds from such sales would then be used to purchase even more Ethereum.
However, some investors may view Lee's comments with skepticism, considering that his company profits from a rising Ethereum price. Despite this, there are signs that a bull market might indeed be on the horizon. The total crypto sector market cap has increased by nearly $1 trillion since July 1, and Ethereum's price has risen by 55% over the last three months.
