Bitwise Brings Tokenization to Solana Staking ETF with Superstate Partnership
Crypto asset manager Bitwise is expanding its services to allow investors to hold shares of its Solana (SOL) staking ETF in tokenized form, thanks to a partnership with fintech firm Superstate. The first target for this new service will be the Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (ticker: BSOL), although an actual launch has not been guaranteed.
The tokenization infrastructure will allow investors to choose between holding shares through the traditional Depository Trust Company (DTC) book-entry method or as blockchain-based tokens. Tokenized shares carry the same rights as book-entry shares, but free transfer outside the blockchain system will be restricted.
Bitwise stated that 'shareholders will be able to choose between holding shares in the traditional DTC book-entry form or as blockchain-based tokens. Tokenized shares carry the same rights as book-entry shares, but free transfer outside the blockchain system is restricted.'
The move targets potential benefits such as improved settlement efficiency, enhanced transparency, and reduced friction in cross-border transactions. Industry observers suggest this initiative could be interpreted as a signal that accelerates institutional adoption of tokenized securities.
