Bitwise Unveils Tokenized Stocks Plan on Coinbase's Base Network
Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley has announced a new tokenized stocks product that will be built on Coinbase's Base network. The product will target on-chain investors, and more details are expected soon. This move comes after Coinbase launched its own tokenized stocks on Base, which include Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet, each backed by a real share.
The new Bitwise offering is expected to launch shortly after Coinbase's rollout, with the company promising more information will follow directly from its channels. In related news, Bitwise reported over $1.8 billion in net inflows during the first half of 2026, despite a tough stretch for crypto markets.
This development marks a significant step forward for tokenized stocks, which are open to eligible users outside the United States and can be held in their own wallets instead of going through a broker. The tokens also trade at any time of day, unlike traditional stock markets, and can be used across apps built on Base's decentralized finance network.
Bitwise has already explored other tokenized products this year, including the Bitwise Crypto Carry Fund for qualified investors and its Solana Staking ETF, which it is exploring with Superstate. The company's new product appears to be a key addition to the growing market for tokenized stocks.
