BlackRock Cuts Bitcoin Minimum Swap Threshold

BlackRock has reduced the minimum amount of Bitcoin required for large investors to convert their holdings into shares of its iShares Bitcoin Trust. The new threshold is $1 million, down from $25 million, effective July 2026.

This move allows more wealthy investors to swap their Bitcoin directly for ETF shares without selling it first, potentially reducing trading costs and tax impacts.

Bitwise also lowered its minimum requirement from $100 million to $3 million. So far, over $5 billion worth of swaps have been processed, with the majority moving existing Bitcoin into the fund rather than adding new money.
