BlackRock Leads $825M Crypto ETF Inflows as Institutional Demand Ramps Up
Regulated institutional demand for cryptocurrency has increased significantly after US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs pulled in a combined $825.8 million on August 20, according to Farside Investors data.
Bitcoin ETFs drew $606.3 million, with BlackRock's IBIT leading the pack at $503 million, accounting for most of the day's demand. Meanwhile, Ethereum ETFs added $219.5 million, with BlackRock's ETHA contributing $173.3 million to the total.
The strong inflows into both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs are a sign that institutional investors are allocating capital through regulated vehicles, rather than just chasing futures or short-term momentum.
While the numbers are not cumulative flows, but rather single-session combined inflows, they do indicate that the recent price rally in crypto markets has some underlying strength. This is because ETF inflows represent actual capital entering regulated vehicles, which can provide a more durable layer to the market's move.
