BlackRock Passes on XRP ETF Opportunity
BlackRock's decision to skip filing for an XRP ETF has left some wondering what impact this might have on the asset. The largest spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF issuer in the US, BlackRock has yet to submit a filing for an XRP fund despite seven other issuers already holding about $1.77 billion in the asset.
The current XRP funds hold around 1.18 billion XRP, accounting for roughly 1.9% of the total coins in circulation. Since their launch, these funds have attracted approximately $1.79 billion in investments, after withdrawals. Despite this, investor contributions increased by about $76 million in the week leading up to September 25.
BlackRock's head of digital assets, Robbie Mitchnick, stated that the launch of a crypto ETF depends on five main factors: client demand, market value, liquidity, maturity, and how well the coin fits into a portfolio. He emphasized that client demand is the top priority.
