BlackRock's IBIT Sees Massive Outflows as Bitcoin ETFs Plummet

Bitcoin ETFs had a tumultuous day on Wednesday, losing over $520 million in value. One of the main contributors to this decline was BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which saw approximately $144 million in net outflows.

This is not an isolated incident, as IBIT experienced another significant redemption just prior, with $161.7 million leaving the fund on the previous session.

Other funds, such as Fidelity's FBTC and Bitwise's BITB, also saw notable redemptions, contributing to the overall decline of $520 million in value for spot bitcoin ETFs.

The reason behind this downturn can be attributed to rising Treasury yields making risk assets less attractive. As interest rates increase, investors become more hesitant to hold volatile assets like cryptocurrencies, leading to a shift in their investment strategies.
